Why run multiple AI models?
No single model is best for every product. A model that nails fluffy textures (sweaters, fur) may struggle with hard reflective edges (jewelry, glassware). bgremove runs 4 models in parallel so you can pick the best output per image — or auto-export all four and decide later.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. bgremove runs entirely on your Mac. Models are downloaded once on first launch (~1.2 GB), then everything happens locally. Your product photos never leave your machine.
How many Macs can I install one license on?
Two — typically your desktop and laptop. License activation happens in-app via your Gumroad license key.
Does it support Intel Macs?
No. bgremove requires Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) for GPU-accelerated inference. macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
How do updates work?
bgremove ships with the Sparkle auto-update framework. New versions appear in the app's "Check for Updates" menu. Updates are free for the lifetime of the license.
